Michael Fletcher

A short film of Colchester Art Society member Michael Fletcher in his Wivenhoe studio. Recorded in November 2022, Michael allows us to watch as he works on a small painting based on drawings and collages made on the South Downs in Sussex. Michael shares his early memories of growing up by the river in Putney before becoming Head of Putney Art School in 1990. He and his wife, Julia Vezza, would later buy a small cottage in Ronda, Spain - an area with a history of artists going back to David Bomberg in the 1950s - from which Michael would pursue landscape painting.
